One in 100 babies, one or both tear ducts are blocked at birth, and in the end of first month, babies’ tear started to be produced. Since a blocked tear duct doesn’t drain properly, babies’ eyes become watery and sometimes, eye lids can be stuck by 眼屎 in the morning. Most clogged ducts will clear up by themselves by the end of the first year without treatment. Little One used to have the same problem with both eyes not only in the morning, also during the day. What I did was using sterilized water (boil water for one minute then wait until it gets complete cool) and wet a sterilized cotton ball to wipe away 眼屎 fro m the eyes, towards the ear (very important to do so, otherwise, the tear ducts can still be blocked) and always use a fresh cotton ball to clean if the first one doesn’t finish the job. I kept doing so for about a month until Little One finally got rid of the problem.
